We got a call today that we wished would have never come.
The call was from the adoption director of the agency that has been tirelessly fighting for the country of Liberia to open up adoptions again.
The sweet woman explained that based on current information, we are now looking at two very distinct possibilities with regard to our adoption of Prince.
1) The best case scenario is that he may be home in 2 years. Uggh...that would make him 9 years old before he ever gets to us.
And that was the best case...
2) The worst case is that the adoptions will never fully open up again and we may be forced to send Prince from the foster care home where he now lives back into the orphanage setting. Uggh...
It has now been over a year since we fell in love with our little Liberian son and had the chance to see his smile.
I can't begin to guess what the Lord has in store for Prince or our family, but I can say for certain that he is our son. Regardless of whether or not we ever get the chance to tuck him into bed at night or wipe away his tears or cheer him on in soccer...he is our son.
When I look into his eyes each day, I know that he is my son.
What a strange feeling to know something so certainly and also to know full-well that we may never again get the chance to see our child.
Lord, please be with our little Prince. Give him love...give him peace...give him You. Amen
